All the details...
Your Family as Art
At OGP we believe that portraits are art that is meant to be seen and appreciated. We pride ourselves in providing our clients with stunning artwork of their kids, pets and families as they grow and change over the years: art that hangs on the walls of your home and albums that give your coffee table that perfect, personal finishing touch. From planning your session all the way through to installation of our finished artwork on your walls, we are there every step of the way to make your family portrait process as seamless as possible.
At your design consultation, we'll discuss what wall space you want to fill and what style album suits your taste. We'll go over your unique needs to make sure that your finished artwork is a reflection of your family's style and is chosen for the space in which the art will exist.
Your first step is a call with Olivia so that she may get to know a little about your family and your style, as well as answer any of your questions before the next step in the planning process… the pre-session creative consultation.
Design Consultation
Your design consultation is the first step of the OGP Process after you've booked your session. Olivia will come to your home and photograph your wall space so that she can show you exact artwork size options for your space. We'll discuss style, artwork finish, and we'll narrow down what appeals to you and tailor your session to those choices. We'll also ask some questions to get to know your family members. Understanding your family dynamics allows us to capture personalities and relationships as they really are at this moment in your lives.
The design consultation is also where we delve into your questions, such as location, wardrobe, professional hair and makeup, how much you can expect to invest at your viewing & ordering appointment, where you should hang portraits in your home, can you bring the family pet (yes, of course!), etc. Get your questions ready and we'll make sure to go over everything in detail!
Portrait Session
Now for the fun part! If you can show up with everyone dressed, the OGP team does the rest. Literally. Olivia knows first-hand how stressful it can be to have everyone well rested, in a good mood, and looking their best on the day of your family portrait session! Olivia's ability to connect with her subjects, and the calm, unhurried energy she brings to each shoot, is one of the best advantages to working with her. No more stiff family portraits with fake smiles. No crazy props competing for attention with your perfect newborn baby. Genuine, REAL imagery that takes you back to this moment in time when you're looking back on these images 40 years from now. The quiet, loud, serious, silly, funny, grumpy, sassy moments -- OGP is here for ALL of it!
Our hope for you is that this will be a day of celebrating your perfectly imperfect family, and that the experience of the session itself is a memory you will cherish, as you do the portraits themselves.
Viewing & Ordering Appointment
Around two weeks after your session, you'll come into the studio for your Viewing and Ordering Appointment. This is when you'll see your images for the first time on our big screen television. We'll play a slideshow of your gallery, then we'll go back and look at the images one by one. Olivia is there to help guide you through the final design for your wall art and album. Your Viewing and Ordering appointment is the time set aside to finalize your portrait order, so be sure and schedule a time when all decision-makers can be there.
Production
Once your order is placed, we oversee every detail of the production of your wall pieces and albums through printing, finishing, and quality control of your artwork. Our in-house production team takes care of any additional retouching necessary, then perfectly sizes your wall art for printing and designs your album according to the images you've chosen. We use a local New Orleans framer to fit our framed pieces, which are finished with high end mouldings and conservation glass. If you're coming to us for baby sessions and you've chosen one of our exclusive felt handmade albums, our embroiderer and local bookbinder start creating your album while we get your prints ready to be placed inside. When all the pieces have arrived, we assemble the book and arrange the photographs to tell your story in its pages. All materials used are archival and acid-free, meaning that when properly cared for, they will last for generations.
Let Us Do the Final Steps
Most of our clients prefer to have their portraits delivered and installed in their homes. About 4-8 weeks after your order has been placed, our installer will set up a time to deliver and hang your art. Let us handle the heavy lifting and hanging, and eliminate the tension of doing it yourselves. All that's left now is to sit back and enjoy the view -- and take all the credit for your beautiful artwork.
The Long-Term Plan
We know our kids keep growing and changing (so fast!), so what do we do with our wall pieces as we have more sessions?
Once you’re part of the OGP Family, we help you create a vision for future sessions based on the ages and stages of your children and the design vision for your home. Our pieces are curated to look good now AND be able to move throughout your home (or move to a new home!) as we add to your family art collection over time. We will work with you and your interior designer to make it perfect.
