New Orleans, Louisiana is a special place to celebrate the holidays! There is a LOT to do with your little ones at this time of year, so here are some of our favorite family friendly activities to celebrate the season in the Crescent City!
1. NOLA Holiday Parade
New Orleans loves a parade! This was the inaugural year for this family-centered event, starting Downtown and ending with a fun concert in Lafayette Square! It's a perfect way to kick off the season at the beginning of December so make sure to put it on your calendar for next year.
2. Teddy Bear Teas
Many locations around New Orleans host Teas and almost all include fun activities, food, and of course...meeting Santa Claus!

3. Santa's PJ Party
The kiddos can decorate cookies, chat with Santa and the Sugarplum Fairy, have hot chocolate, and feast on delicious food all in their favorite Christmas pajamas at this event at the Royal Sonesta! (December 17-18)
4. The Nutcracker
This holiday classic is always sets the mood for Christmas! And, we have a few little clients who perform in this every year! ;)
Jefferson Performing Arts Society
5. Build Your Own Gingerbread House
This fun activity takes place in the main lobby of the Ritz! You can reserve a table of four with all decorating essentials (plus endless mimosas for the parents!). Reserve here. (December 10-11, December 17-22)
6. NOLA Christmasfest
You and your family can enjoy rides, food, performances, and even a real ice-skating rink all in a very festive indoor environment! And, there's parking nearby! Get tickets here.
7. Caroling in Jackson Square
Each year, this special event is the perfect way to get into the spirit of Christmas with your fellow New Orleanians. Everyone gets a song sheets and a candle to start counting down the few days left until Christmas! But get there early...it gets packed! (December 18)
8. Bonfires on the Levee
This iconic Louisiana event happens each year on Christmas Eve. The bonfires on the levee light the way for Papa Noel and his 9 alligators! Get more info here to see this tradition in action this year.
9. Victory Belles Holiday Show
Each year, the WWII Museum's Victory Belles put on a holiday show and this year, it's all about Louisiana Christmas traditions! Come see Ms. Hannah sing and dance her heart out in Louisiana Christmas Day! at BB's Stage Door Canteen. (Select dates December 4-23 at 12:45pm)
10. Celebration in the Oaks
One of the most fun things to do with your children for the holidays in New Orleans is visit City Park! You can walk or drive through this light display while holiday music plays through your radio. It is always a hit with little ones! Make sure to get your tickets in advance!
